Horstead Mill

(Last visited March 2018)

This is a great little pub walk and the The Recruiting Sergeant has a link to it on the ‘local walks’ section on their website.

Some sections are next to roads so with my live wire I had to be super vigilant when we visited a few years ago, but the kids were fascinated by the weir – we hung around here for ages! Before you reach the mill there is a great playground on Mill Lane too.

Our pushchair struggled a bit in a few places where there were sloped rooty bits – there were two of us so we could lift the pushchair over, but someone on their own might struggle. A baby carrier might be better if you’re on your own.

The Recruiting Sergeant has baby change facilities and a great kids menu – needs booking even in normal times, as it’s a popular place.

This is a great walk for toddlers – for adults it would take 30 mins but we were plodding about for about an hour as they loved it! There is a map on the following link – http://www.recruitingsergeant.co.uk/walks.html
