A lovely little wood off Whitlingham Lane – I must have driven past it on the way to Whitlingham so many times and not noticed it! Just over a mile round but definitely “undulating” to put it gently! Some quite steep climbs. Which, of course, my daughter loved and proceeded to run up and down every one she could find. There is one hazard – a very steep drop off one of the paths (see map below). My five year old was observant enough to be mindful of it, but it’s definitely worth noting for younger kids.
Other than that, it’s a fun little wood – some stepped parts and the gradient mean it isn’t great for pushchairs, but we had a lovely picnic halfway round where there is a picnic bench near two huge buddleias, which was covered in butterflies.
We went on to visit at the brilliant play-park on the green at Trowse. My friend also says the meadow opposite the entrance to Trowse Wood is a beautiful spot, but note there are cattle grazing and Toxic Giant Hogweed is present!
