This is a beautiful, yet tiny, wood and is a fantastic short walk for toddlers. It was one of my first discoveries in 2017 when we started exploring. The main path gets muddy in winter, but during dry, summer months a pushchair will be able to handle it (although you’ll have to pull it up a short set of steps near the car park). It has a great play area across the common. It’s only about quarter of a mile but I think that makes it a great option if you just need to get out of the house and stretch your legs. There are lots of little informal paths for little legs to explore off the main path too – these can get overgrown so don’t stray too far from the main path in case you lose your bearings. Be mindful that there are some steep chalk pits within the woods too.
To extend the walk, you can also link it with Marston Marsh which is just down the Marston-Eaton link path along the edge of Eaton Golf Course.
One that is better for toddlers, a short leg stretch and baby carriers, but it’s a lovely little spot.
