We had the loveliest walk here recently. There are so many paths to explore around here – unfortunately I underestimated the distance and my five-year-old ended up walking nearly four miles! She forgave me for all the “mud fun” we had though.
We parked at the village hall (where there is also a great playpark) and walked up Mill Street to the mill. For a quiet village this is quite a busy-ish road and the path isn’t the widest, so keep tots close. The road bears round to the right and between two buildings you will see a waymarked trail – just follow the fingerposts. On the other side of the road here is a great spot for paddling in the summer. You are treated to beautiful views of the mill and the river path is lovely. It opens up into a riverside walk – cattle graze here, we didn’t see them but we saw quite a few “pats”.
You can walk all the way round to Oxnead along the river path (see map) but that would be a long walk for little legs. It’s still a lovely walk along the river if you did an “out and back”. Alternatively, you could park at the Bure Valley Railway station and walk across the fields to Oxnead
This isn’t a good one for pushchairs. The paths are too narrow and ground too bumpy, plus there are several obstacles. My five-year-old loved it though!
